Historical – Little Bohemia Lodge – Little Bohemia Lodge is a resort and supper club visited by the notorious John Dillinger. In the 1920’s, Dillinger was cornered by the FBI at this restaurant and a deadly shoot-out began. Dillinger evaded the FBI at this encounter but an innocent person was shot. The owners have preserved the building as it was right after the shoot-out. So, while visiting, make sure to see the bullet holes in the siding and the windows (now preserved in plexiglass). – http://littlebohemialodge.com/

Pizza – Home Slice Pizza

Unfortunately, much of the Pizza served in the Northwoods is “Bar” pizza. Home Slice Pizza is an exception and makes fresh hand-made pizza that is quite good. In addition, they will actually deliver to Paradise Point for a small fee. Home Slice Pizza does not have their own seating but shares space with the “Tap Room” bar which does have seating and a huge selection of micro beer offerings. The protocol is that you go the Tap Room first, find indoor or comfortable outdoor seating, then walk down the hall, order your pizza, go back to your seats and order your beverages. When you place your pizza order, they’ll them you have seating in the Tap Room, they will deliver it to your table. Both the pizza and the vast selection of beers (two separate business) are very good.

The Pines

The Pines is a restaurant in the heart of Mercer which features live entertainment and dancing in an outdoor setting during the summer season. It is a short 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk from Paradise Point. They have ample seating, good entertainment, dancing on a wood platform, and a huge selection of both libations and sweets.

The Pines is one of our favorites as they have great food, excellent hosts, and entertainment in the outdoor beer garden. They specialize in German food but they also have a wide selection of entrees and weekly specials. They serve ice cream in their parlor during the summer months and feature many delightful sweet treats. The downside is that they often have long wait times. If you plan to go here, always call first!
